How Manga Insyte (mangainsyte.com and the iPhone and iPad app) collects, uses, and protects your information.

Manga Insyte ("we", "us", or "our") operates mangainsyte.com, the Manga Insyte app for iPhone and iPad, and related services that help physical manga collectors catalog owned volumes, track reading progress, scan covers and spines, and organize virtual bookshelves. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

We may collect and process the following types of information:

Account information such as your name, email address, and authentication details
Collection data you choose to store, including owned volumes, copies, read status, notes, wishlists, and lending records
Photos and scans you upload, including cover crops, spine images, and optional completion-memory photos
Reading activity you log, such as queue items, sessions, milestones, and journal entries
Integration data when you connect third-party services (for example AniList, MyAnimeList, or Notion)
Purchase records for Pro, such as the plan, store and renewal date (never your card details)
Usage data: in the app, when the Pro screen is shown and what is tapped on it
Cookies and similar technologies that help us operate sessions, remember preferences, and improve the service

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, operate, and maintain Manga Insyte
Authenticate users and secure accounts
Store and display your collection, scans, bookshelves, and reading companion data
Process optional imports and exports you request through connected integrations
Improve product features, reliability, and user experience
Communicate service-related notices and respond to support requests
Process subscriptions and billing when you purchase Pro features
Comply with legal obligations

3. The Manga Insyte app (iPhone and iPad)

The app uses your camera, only when you open a scanner, to read barcodes and photograph covers, spines and bookshelves, and your photo library, only for photos you pick. Reading shelf photos and cleaning up kept panels happens on your device. On the Free plan, kept panels and quote photos stay on your device and are not uploaded. The Up Next widget and the reading-session Live Activity show data the app already holds on your device.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with providers that run the service for us, under agreements that limit their use of it, when required by law, or with your consent:

Supabase (account, database and file storage) and PowerSync (syncing your library between devices)
Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases) and Google (Google sign-in)
RevenueCat (managing Pro purchases and restoring them) and Superwall (showing the Pro screen in the app and counting how often it's shown and tapped)
Paddle (purchases on the website, as merchant of record)
Vercel (hosting the website)
Services you connect yourself: MyAnimeList and AniList (importing your lists), Notion (exporting), and MangaBaka (looking up a title when you add your own manga)

When you connect a third-party integration, we exchange only the data needed to perform the import, export or lookup you request.

5. Analytics and tracking

We don't use advertising or cross-app tracking, and we don't sell or share data with data brokers. The app records when the Pro screen is shown and what is tapped on it (through Superwall), to see which Pro screens work. The website doesn't use an analytics service.

6. Public library sharing

If you enable public library sharing, selected collection information may be visible to others through your public page at mangainsyte.com. Spending totals and wishlist data remain hidden on public pages unless you choose to share them elsewhere. Shareable edition journeys and similar features only expose what you explicitly publish.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as theme and language. You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, though some features may not work correctly without them.

8. Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app (Settings › Delete account), or by emailing us from the address on your account. This permanently removes your profile, library, reading logs, photos, scans and everything else stored with your account from our database and file storage, and stops Manga Insyte using your Apple sign-in if you signed in with Apple. It can't be undone.

Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription: cancel it in your Apple Account settings (Settings › your name › Subscriptions). A website subscription is cancelled when the account is deleted. Pro ends right away and unused time isn't refunded.

9. How long we keep data

We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is deleted right away; copies in our database provider's backups expire on their normal schedule, usually within days. Records we must keep by law, such as purchase records kept by Apple, Paddle or RevenueCat, are kept by them under their own policies.

10. Where your data is stored

Your database and files are stored with Supabase in Singapore (AWS ap-southeast-1); some providers listed above may process data in other countries. When data is transferred across borders, we rely on the safeguards required by applicable law.

11. Data security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including access controls for user-uploaded scans and other private media. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to reduce unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss.

12. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction or deletion of your data
Withdraw consent where applicable
Object to or restrict certain processing

13. Children's privacy

Manga Insyte is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

14. Third-party links and catalog content

Our catalog may include metadata and cover images sourced from third-party databases and may link to external sites. Those third parties have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for their policies or content.

15. Policy updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Manga Insyte after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
